There’s a popular song from the 1908’s called “Working for the Weekend”. It’s by Lover Boy, a Canadian rock band with lots of cowbells. One of the lyrics of the chorus is, “Everybody’s working for the weekend”.

Well, it turns out, 40 years later, everybody’s actually working ON the weekend.

A new study from Work From Home Research finds that 10% of hybrid workers aren’t working on a given weekday. To balance this, 56% of them are working a full day’s worth on Saturday.

This means hybrid and remote workers are taking charge of their schedule and deciding when they want to work. And that’s great!

There have been more and more studies that mention the benefits of hybrid working, both in favor of the employer and the employee. Aside from required meetings, we all should have more control over how we spend our time.

This style of operating does require good time management skills, as you don’t want to be “always on”. You also need to have strong self-control, so you don’t burn yourself out.

The takeaway
Being able to get away from the desk during the week for personal appointments is awesome. And if it’s warm and beautiful outside, why not take a longer lunch at a café? You can always catch up on the weekend, like Lover Boy 🙂
