As a Salesforce consultant, sometimes your client can irritate you.

Perhaps they do it unconsciously or inadvertently, and they may do it to try and exert their dominance on you. It actually doesn’t really matter why they do these things. You cannot control them, you cannot change their behavior, and you should not retaliate.

So, what’s your best course of action?

Let your ego go.

Of course, that’s not as simple as it sounds. You need to remain calm, stay focused on the business goals, and maintain as healthy a business relationship as you possibly can. But allowing your ego get the best of you won’t help you in this situation. It most likely would make things worse.

Of course, if the client starts getting really nasty or insults you personally, then it’s time to escalate to the project manager. Respect must never be sacrificed.

You cannot control what others do, you can only control your reaction to them. As tempting as it may be, don’t let your ego dictate your actions.
