The barrier of entry into Salesforce has never been lower.
Trailhead learning is free, Salesforce itself is constantly expanding into new markets, and news spread like wildfire that anyone can do Salesforce. As one small example, the new Data Cloud certification is basically a give-away at the moment.
As a result, millions of new non-technical admins popped up, everyone has multiple certifications, agencies are quickly hacked together, and partner reviews on AppExchange are skewed.
The last point really bothers me. Happy customers will gladly give a partner a 5 star review, but somehow those 1 or 2 star reviews are never published. I’ve even had this exact experience with a subcontractor recently. The experience was disappointing, and I didn’t leave them a review.
If you cannot trust the reviews, how do clients really know who’s good or not?
The end result is, lots of agencies and partners who claim to know what to do, but actually have little-to-no idea. Good enough consultants are scarce, and are to keep in one place as they often deal with incompetence.
As a solution architect, I’m sure there’s a solution out there somewhere. Right now, I’m just commenting on the symptom and the underlying issue.
The takeaway
