There was some great feedback from yesterday’s email about Too many SIs, not enough consultants.
Here are some interesting observations I felt would be helpful to share with you:
“I check the number of completed projects against reviews. If they do not match – the partner is not asking for reviews for every project – ask yourself why”.
“I think that every SFDC professional (either independent or not) should have a portfolio … and get … reviews everytime he/she completes a project”.
“Clients must require a portfolio before hiring someone.”
“Bad experiences will lower clients’ expectation of the best CRM of the world, due just to some not well prepared consultant and this will lower the compensation system. In the long run, this is bad for everyone.”
Additional themes included
- Client should always check references
- Balancing certs with actual experience is important – one shouldn’t have only certs and no experience or vice-versa
- If everyone is certified, then no one is certified
The takeaway
Trust is hard to achieve and easy to break. So keep asking yourself whether what you’re doing will build client trust or risk it.
And keep educating yourself. This will help you market yourself to stand apart from the rest.
