One great way to reflect on your Salesforce career is to take a break.
It doesn’t need to be something dramatic like a sabbatical or extended vacation. But time away from the keyboard, the community, and the ecosystem can be very helpful.
Distance offers perspective. If you’re inspecting something from an inch away, you’ll miss all kinds of surrounding details.
Taking a step back allows you to see the whole picture. Then you can drill down into the details. Or shift back to the entire scene.
So be sure to take meaningful breaks from your work.
For example, I attended an olive oil and cheese presentation today. I learned quite a bit about different olive oils, such as what makes one better than another. Both the oil and the cheese were made by local farmers, which made the experience that much more genuine.
Don’t worry, I won’t say something like, “Here’s what tasting olive oil made me understand about Salesforce”, lol. But the break from the design, development, and support was welcomed.
The takeaway
Be sure to find activities that pull you away from your keyboard and you can enjoy. Rest and relaxation makes you a better consultant.
