During my two week hiatus from these emails, I stopped talking and listened more.
One recurring theme in particular caught my attention: Salesforce is not the company it once was.
This theme presented itself in multiple ways:
- People leaving the Salesforce ecosystem and moving to another career
- Throngs of junior consultants who are out of work
- Comments about how Salesforce is pushing Agentforce down our throats when most organizations are not even close to being ready to adopt it
- With all the recent layoffs, the feeling of the “ohana” slowly dying
As I’ve said several times, our careers are based on a single platform. They will rise when Salesforce rises, and fall when Salesforce falls.
We need to understand and accept this dependency. There’s nothing inherently wrong about it, and it’s very possible to have a very successful career.
But it’s important to not forget this dependency. And as a result, to be ready to adjust your career as needed.
How, you ask? To be continued tomorrow..
The takeaway
As a Salesfore consultant, our livelihood is based on Salesforce. While it’s not the same company it was years ago, there are still plenty of opportunities
