When building low-code automations in Salesforce, you have two options: Flow and Omniscript.

Flow was designed by Salesforce. As a result, more people are familiar with it. With nearly each release, it gets better and better, as more features are added.

Omniscript was included in the purchase of Vlocity. It’s similar to flow, but is more advanced. For example, you can set the style sheet (.css), similar to Visualforce pages and Lightning Web Components.

So which is actually better?

The result is: the one that you’re more comfortable with, and the one your client is more comfortable with.

When choosing any technology, it’s not about the actual technology.

With web development, for example, there are dozens of programming languages you can use. While there are incremental differences between all of them, none of that really matters.

If you and your team produce faster and better results with flow, then use flow. Else use Omniscript.

Also, don’t forget you’re not building for yourself. You’re building for your client. If they are unable to maintain the features you’ve built, then whatever you’ve built isn’t a success.

The takeaway
While specific features can be considered, the ultimate question when choosing a technology isn’t about features.

It’s about whether others will understand what you’ve built.
