I attended the Salesforce World Tour in NYC today, which was awesome, and I’ll write about that soon. But today is Friday, which usually focuses on remote working/being a digital nomad. So let’s talk about NYC itself.
Living in Montreal, Canada provides me easy access to this city. It’s about 600 km (370 miles) away, which means about 6h in the car or about 1h in a plane. As such, I’ve
- visited multiple times for long weekends, as it’s an amazing romantic weekend getaway
- celebrated New Year’s Eve, which was grossly overpriced
- once spent two weeks in an Airbnb, living as a local
Each time, I discovered something new and exciting about the city. I believe I could return a hundred times and find something new and exciting each time. There’s just something magical about this city. Something in the air, in the street garbage, in the pedestrians cursing the cars, and in the cars cursing people walking.
All of it is overwhelming, and hectic, and spectacular.
I’ve only experienced this in a handful of other cities, including
- Barcelona: a beautiful mix of the beach and the city
- Hong Kong: one of the only cities in the world that’s even busier than NYC
- Sevilla: the essence of flamingo is always in the air
- London: a global multi-cultural melting pot
The takeaway
If you have the opportunity to visit any of these places, take it! If you’ve already been to any of them, let me know if you feel this energy too.
