My coaching students often ask me what is usually the biggest concern about a Salesforce project. You know, the one that often keeps me up at night, worrying.
The answer usually surprises them, because it has nothing to do with technology.
I’ve noticed the technology elements usually work themselves out. Perhaps they are not perfect in the first version, but they do get better and better over time.
Instead, the main issue that worries me is change management.
Introducing new or updated technology can intimate people. And when you’re intimated, the first phase is usually to resist the change.
One great way to overcome this resistance is to name a project champion. This champion should be someone the client or organization already trusts, someone who is eager to be an early adopter, and someone who is willing to lead others.
The takeaway
When a project starts, find someone that fits these three criteria and ask them if they want to be a champion. Give them all the tools and resources they need to rally the rest of the troops. Soon you’ll find the rest of the organization react more favorably to the tech change.
