Did you know there are currently 58 countries that offer some kind of digital nomad visa?
The number keeps growing every year, and some visas are harder to obtain than others. So which ones are the easiest, cheapest and fastest to receive, in places you would actually want to go?
Here are the top 3.
3. Hungary
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is currently in the top five most popular cities in the world for creative digital nomads. It is a modern multicultural city that’s very walkable and affordable to live in, which are two reasons why it has a 92% approval rating on Nomadlist.
Hungary currently has the easiest digital nomad visa in Europe right now. It’s a quick process and you usually get it within 30 days.
2. Malta
Digital nomads are drawn to Malta for its year-round sun, high quality of life, and business-friendly tax policies. The island lifestyle with plenty of beaches is a plus. Also, one of the official languages is English.
Applying for a visa is done completely online and has an approval rating of 90%. With it, you can stay in Malta for 1 year, renewable up to 3 years.
1. Croatia
If you haven’t yet been to Dubrovnik, a major filming location for Game of Thrones, now is your chance. Nomadlist has named Croatia the “most liked” digital nomad hub in Europe this year, and its nomad visa approval rate is 97%. The application process is also fully online.
Each country has similar visa requirements:
- A minimum monthly income, ranging between $2,250/m and €3,000/m
- Proof that you your work is totally remote
- Proof you have accommodations
- Proof of insurance and financial stability
The takeaway
My personal favorite is Croatia, as the rocky beaches and dozens of charming islands are a joy to explore. Which country would you prefer?
