A fellow reader provided some feedback on the email How to display warning messages using the Salesforce Lightning Design System.

His main question was, why not use Salesforce’s Einstein Next Best Action (ENBA)? That’s a great question, and so I thought to share and expand my answer with you.

To start, it’s important to know ENBA comes with your existing Salesforce licenses. There isn’t a separate SKU to purchase. You just enable it and start using it.

Next, it doesn’t actually need to involve any AI. You can build the exact same functionality and output using flows. Yes, you are able to integrate predictive models, but that’s an optional step.

Lastly, the output of ENBA is designed to prompt you for a response. For example, if you’re on a contact record and ENBA determines that a coupon for purchasing something on your eCommerce platform is the next best option, it’ll display a coupon code. It can also ask you whether the contact accepted the coupon or not. If not, perhaps another action is proposed. This process can repeat several times.

Sure, you can use it to display images, but that’s not ENBA’s intended purpose. And best practice tell you you should use things for what they were designed to do, not for just any purpose that suits you.

The takeaway
ENBA is a cool feature, and use it when appropriate.

Personally, I’ve yet to use it in a Salesforce project. If you have, I’d love to hear your use case.
