It’s been a while since I spoke about being a digital nomad. I used to share this passion almost every Friday, so it’s time for one now.
For the last 4 years, I spent summers in Montreal, Canada and winters in Malaga, Spain. Why Spain? Because it’s awesome!
Weather
Spain: consistently 18-20C (about 70F) and almost everyday has full sunshine
Canada: consistently well below freezing
Food
Spain: local food is tasty and healthy, and there are lots of international restaurants
Canada: local food is burgers and poutine, but at least there are some good options for international
People
Spain: the sunny weather seems to make people happy. Most wear a smile most of the time
Canada: known for friendly people, but just not as friendly
Way of life
Spain: life and family comes first, then work. People aren’t measured by where they live of what car they drive
Canada: work is emphasized over play. People tend to ask what is your job very quickly in conversation
The takeaway
One of the advantages of working with Salesforce should be the ability to work remotely. Whether it’s Spain or your favorite spot, getting away for part of the year allows you to enjoy life a little bit more.
