One common objection I hear about trying to be a digital nomad is kids.

Kids make things messier when traveling. They require significant time and attention, their basic needs must be met, and then there’s school.

Obviously the best time to be a digital nomad with kids is when they are young enough to not go to school. There’s a golden period between them being eating, sleeping, pooping machines and when they require formal education.

However it’s also possible to work remotely and have them schooled remotely.

Homeschooling is one option. Some call it “world schooling”, since they are experiencing and learning different parts of the world . This works when one parent focuses on their education while the other focuses on work.

Part-time schooling is another option. There are international schools in some regions of the world that allow children to enroll for short periods of time. I don’t know the logistics of this option, but I wanted to let you know of its existence so you can research it further.

The last option is taking a school break. I know two couples that simply took their kids out of school for a year to travel all around Europe. One of them rented a van and even brought their dog with them.

The takeaway
If you want something badly enough, you can make it happen. Working remotely with kids takes more planning and logistics, but it’s still possible.
