There are more and more posts on LinkedIn about how the traditional CRM (including Salesforce) is slowly dying.
The posts have similar themes:
- Traditional CRMs are too focused on on sales team
- Users aren’t updating data, leading to graveyards
- AI is taking over everything
Some posts sarcastically suggest you to vibe code your own CRM (BTW, the term “vibe coding” means using AI to develop).
As someone who saw the rise and fall of Siebel CRM (which was the #1 CRM years ago), I’m attentive to these comments. And while these comments are valid, they point to a deeper problem.
Instead of just saying, “users don’t update data”, ask, “why aren’t they?”
- Did the user receive sufficient training?
- Is the process too complex?
- Is there a way to make things easier for users?
“Why?” is one of the most powerful questions you can ask.
The takeaway
Be attentive to your users and your Salesforce instance. If they start to complain, or if the system is failing them, start by asking “why” questions.
