As of April 4, 2024, Italy is the latest European country to offer a digital nomad visa
To bring you up to speed, a digital nomad visa generally allows you and your family to stay in a country for a year, and possibly longer. Visas have minimal requirements that differ from country to country.
In Italy’s case, you need to be a non-European Union citizen, have at least an annual income of 28k euros (about $30k USD), and have your own health care. That’s on-par for most other countries.
To apply, just visit the local Italian consulate.
Italy is an amazing place. I believe it has some of the best foods, wines, and coffees in the world. The views are spectacular, the people are dynamic, and the harmony of the language is captivating. It feels like Italians have figured out a way to truly enjoy life.
To be honest, until just a few years ago, I thought Italy would be my second home. The Tuscany region was especially captivating. The rolling hills littered with vines have an immense calming effect.
The takeaway
As more and more countries offer a digital nomad visa, it’s getting harder and harder to resist these offers.
Remember, there are no rules to becoming a digital nomad. You just need a laptop, internet access, and an open mind. Then allow the wind to take you 🙂
