Salesforce training isn’t something you do once the project is launched and is never discussed again. It’s an iterative process you need to keep in mind at all times.
Why is that?
Because people don’t remember everything they’ve been taught on the 1st pass. They also tend to leave an organization while fresh people join.
So let’s talk about some effective ways to provide Salesforce user training.
1. Trailhead
Trailhead is an easy and sometimes amusing way to introduce Salesforce concepts and usage to a new audience. It’s great to provide a basic level of understanding, so trainers don’t need to start from scratch. There’s also Enablement (formerly known as myTrailhead, and now a paid add-on), which allows you to build custom trails for your organization.
2. In-App Guidance
In Salesforce, you can set up In-App Guidance and Learning Paths to provide contextual help to users. These are good options when users are lost on a specific object.
3. Training Videos
Producing short-form custom videos with screen sharing is a great cost-effective way to provide training. These videos are created once and shared to users as part of their onboarding process. Keeping them short is a good idea, as updates will invalidate content over time.
4. Virtual and In-Person Training
Virtual custom training is more personalized training, allowing users to ask questions along the way. If your organization allows it, nothing beats in-person training.
5. Support Helpdesk
Whenever a user has an issue they cannot resolve on their own, it’s important they know what to do. Consider providing help desk agents dedicated to Salesforce support within your organization.
The takeaway
Depending on the size of your organization, budget, and physical location of your users, one or more ways to train your users is available. Just make sure everything you produce remains relevant and current.
