Today’s email is a little off topic, but it’s a huge accomplishment that I’m proud to share with you. The 100th episode of my podcast was released yesterday!
If you’re unaware, I host a weekly podcast in which I interview everyday superheroes in the nonprofit space. It’s a labor of love, unsponsored, and meant to share knowledge and have some fun.
As an independent Salesforce architect, I don’t do a lot of marketing. There’s basically these emails, which I occasionally post on LinkedIn, and the podcast. And the power of these mediums is amazing. In either case, it takes a long time to see results, but once they start, it’s overwhelming.
You can think of it as a farmer’s model, instead of a hunter-gatherer model. In the latter, you eat well today. In the former, yes it takes longer for the fruit to bloom, but then you eat well for months.
You may be the greatest Salesforce consultant on the planet, but if no one knows about you, you’re not going far.
It’s showing up everyday, being consistent and persistent, and sharing your journey that counts. You don’t even need to be experienced to begin. People love watching others grow.
The takeaway
As an independent Salesforce consultant, two powerful ways to market yourself is through email lists and podcasting. It feels more genuine than traditional marketing and if you love what you’re doing, it doesn’t even feel like work.
PS. If you’re curious, my 100th guest was Seth Godin. You can listen to the episode here.
