As a Salesforce consultant, it’s not uncommon to become close to your client. After all, you struggle together and you succeed together. So it should come to no surprise that you bond with them.
This closeness may spill into your personal life. Perhaps you might share more stories about what’s going on in your life. Or share some personal information that you wouldn’t share with a brand new client.
Sharing definitely strengthens your connection. But be weary about sharing too much.
Obviously where the line is is a personal choice. But when your client knows details about your last date, or what you discuss with your family at the dinner table, then that line may have been crossed.
On the other extreme, if you don’t share anything about yourself, you’re missing out on building a stronger connection.
The takeaway
Before sharing personal information with a client, double check with yourself whether you really should share. Be intentional with what you share and what you keep to yourself.
