Today is day 1 of Montreal Dreamin. Overall, this year’s event was much better organized than last year. The organizers learned what works and what doesn’t, and then made the necessary changes.

As a speaker, I was able to share how Salesforce freelancers can escape the limits of hourly billing and unlock their full value. It was the same speech I made at True North Dreamin’ a few months ago, and I’m constantly updating and refining the speech.

Attendees had some great questions, and we quickly ran into overtime.

As a sponsor, we were able to set up our booth, along with our own branded banner, logoed polo shirts, and trophy. The trophy isn’t real, in the sense that I gifted it to myself. It’s meant to be a conversation starter, and people loved it.

It’s hard to measure the return on investment for these moments. But the underlying theme is, you need to keep showing up.

The more people see you and connect with you, the more authority you build.

The takeaway
One great way to advance your career is to show up. Make sure people know you exist and what your strengths are. And keep showing up.

Familiarity builds trust.
