Last week was the Nonprofit Dreamin 2023 in Chicago. It’s a Salesforce conference for partners and clients working with nonprofits.

Provisio, a Salesforce partner, hosted the event at their really cool new office. It’s right next to the Chicago river, with spectacular views of the water and surrounding building.

Lori Freeman, Global General Manager for Nonprofits Salesforce, presented the opening keynote. She shared news about the roadmap for the new Nonprofit Cloud (NPC).

This is interesting because until now, Salesforce only shared this knowledge with partners. Lori mentioned they will be more transparent with clients in the coming months.

Following the keynote were multiple breakout sessions. Here are a few I attended and enjoyed:

  • “The new Nonprofit Cloud: What to consider and why the hype is real” with Ryan Blake and Chris Pifer. Everyone is talking about NPC, so does it actually live up to its hype. Ryan and Chris definitely believe so, and I agree. At least I agree it’s the future, and we should start learning it now.
  • “Too small to succeed: on the Salesforce size myth” with Hayley Tuller. It’s commonly understood that Salesforce isn’t for small nonprofit organizations. Hayley challenges that thinking in a very pragmatic way. She nearly convinced me too 🙂
  • “Best practices for working with an implementation consultant” with Kelly Dwyer. After being on “both sides” of the table, Kelly shared some insights on how to leverage the most from a partner and also how to be a good partner. There was lots of valuable content shared.

The takeaway
There were many other great sessions, and it’s a shame one person cannot attend them all. The main reason why most attend these events isn’t necessarily for these sessions. It’s for networking.

And in that regard, it was spectacular!
