As an independent Salesforce Architect, I usually work on multiple projects at the same time.
Throughout the day, I often need to switch focus from project A to project B, and then return to project A. Then jump to project C, and back to A or B.
Keeping thousands of browser tabs option isn’t a viable option. Neither is closing all tabs and re-opening them each time I switch.
Last year, I discovered a Chrome extension called Workona. Now I cannot imagine my life without it.
Workona is an advanced tab manager. You can open a collection of tabs, and save them under a space. Thus each space becomes a project.
The space remembers which tabs are open each time you change spaces or close your browser. Switching spaces closes all tabs from the previous space and opens all tabs in the new space. Once you’re done, switching back restores everything the way it was.
You can also bookmark tabs within the space, whether they actively open or not. So I don’t use Google’s bookmark manager for projects anymore.
The result is I only have two chrome windows open at any time. One with a handful of tabs for my emails, calendars and music, and another window with the active project’s tab.
The takeaway
I have no affiliation to Workona, but using it saves me headaches and reduces my stress. It has a freemium model, so you can use it until you hit some limits.
