There’s a lot of recent chatter on social media about Salesforce certifications. Some consultants are asking whether certs still have any value or not.
Back in the day, certs were a great way to distinguish yourself from competition. And partners shared the total number of certs from their employees as a vanity metric.
But these days, certs aren’t as valuable. Between everyone having certs, easily accessible test dumps, and consultants using others to do the test for them, what is their current value?
Given all this, it begs the question, why bother anymore?
To me, there’s a difference between obtaining a cert and keeping them. Obtaining them probably won’t add any value to you. So do them if you want, not because you need to.
But maintaining a cert requires minimal effort. A quick Trailhead module and you’re done. So why not take those 10-15 minutes and keep your certs alive.
The takeaway
While certs don’t carry much value anymore, you might as well maintain them. The process takes a few minutes and you never know if you might need them again.
