This weekend, I visited my friends at their home north of the city. Being in the countryside is wonderful for the soul and I was happy to see them and break bread with them.

At one point, I showed their young daughter how easy it is to take a picture of something and have AI generate another picture from it. We started with a portrait of me and prompted AI to create an image of me going down a slide in a playground.

We also made some short videos from a photo. We snapped a picture of an apple and made a video in which it grew arms and legs, then danced a little before doing a fist pump into the air.

It was a fun and playful moment.

Then she asked me to take a picture of her and have AI manipulate it. I smiled and replied, “Nope, no way.” She complained a little and then moved on to another idea.

Her father, overhearing the conversation, took advantage of the moment and stepped in. He explained to her how she needs to be careful with what she publishes on the internet and how AI is used.

The takeaway
This is a reminder to you that AI is a wonderful and powerful tool. But people often share more information about something than is needed.

We don’t really know how information (or photos) may be used. So err on the side of caution.
