As a Salesforce consultant, it’s important to listen more than you speak.
Sure, you may be more knowledgeable about Salesforce than your peers, or everyone on the call. But that doesn’t mean you need to show off.
We all have something to learn from others. Whether it’s
- A client that is demoing their current system
- A client that is frustrated with an aspect of the project
- An admin that is still learning the ropes
Being humble and listening are important skills. Listen, reflect, pause, and then answer.
Even if you’re an all-star player, chances are you’re working with others. And people feel valued when you listen to them.
If you dismiss their ideas without consideration, they may start holding resentment towards you. And that can pollute a good working relationship.
The takeaway
Listen twice as much as you speak. Keep an open mind and value the opinion of others.
