Having a strong professional network helps attract clients and projects. Once you are known, you can refer business to others, and they can refer business to you.

So how do you become known?

There are three main ways to build your professional network.

1. Publishing on social media (like LinkedIn)
Social media usually favors posts about interesting and relevant topics. You can share things you recently learned, re-share what others mention and you enjoy, or ask interesting questions.

2. Helping others in communities
Whether it’s Trailhead or Slack communities, answering questions and guiding others is a great way to become popular. The idea is to find your people and then shower them with your knowledge.

3. Building partnerships
Partnerships are often overlooked, but are a great source of referrals. They can be with other Salesforce consultants, ISV vendors, or agencies. Even with an informal partnership, you can start referring business to them that doesn’t align with your skills. And they can do the same.

The takeaway
The Salesforce ecosystem is in a crunch these days. Too many new Salesforce admins have entered the market, and the demand isn’t keeping up with the supply.

Building your network is a great way to stand out amongst the crowd.
