When meeting someone new, I often ask my favorite question. “If you didn’t have to work to live, how would you spend your time?”
Most people answer “travel” or “buy things”, so I go deeper. “OK, and once you’ve traveled the world, once you have the house(s) and car(s) or whatever, then what?”
The goal is to understand the person’s value system, their unfilteredĀ interests, and their passions. For me, I would pretty much do what I’m doing now. I love what I do, so I would continue doing it.
These days, this question can be rephrased as, “When AI becomes better than humans in every way, how will you spend your time?”
This is a much more plausible scenario, and I believe each one of us will need to answer this question very soon.
So when you’re building your Salesforce career, don’t lose track of the bigger picture. Don’t be so concerned about getting that next cert, or that next milestone.
