If you’re technical and talking to clients just isn’t your thing, consider the Technical Architect (TA) position.
TAs are responsible for the technical elements of the Salesforce platform. This requires strong technical knowledge, understanding concepts such as event-driven and data-driven architecture, and platform events.
They are the tinkers, and understand where the limits are and how to work with them. They also
- Work closely with the team to ensure that all code and customizations meet Salesforce’s best practices
- Help reduce future maintenance and ensure that upgrades are not compromised, i.e. keeps technical debt to a minimum
- Ensures code is compliant with risk threat assessments and privacy impact assessments
Possible certifications include Application Architect, System Architect, and the highly-prized Technical Architect.
The takeaway
People usually start their careers as developers, move up to lead developers, and then become a TA. As such, the Solution Architect and TA make for a very powerful duo.
