As the winter starts to approach, more and more people are leaving North America to find warmer climates.

For example, next weekend, I’m crossing the pond to the south of Spain for 6 months.

Many others choose Mexico for the colder months. And apparently it’s a growing trend. The US State Department estimates more than 1.6 million Americans live as digital nomads in Mexico.

So why Mexico? For the same reasons I choose Spain, namely

  • Warm weather, from Nov through April
  • Beaches, beaches, beaches
  • Friendly and welcoming people
  • Good food
  • Reasonable cost of living

It’s becoming such a large trend that last year Airbnb partnered with Mexico City to create a program just for the city’s growing digital nomad population. Other popular spots are Mazatlán, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen.

The takeaway
Whatever destination you choose, and for as long as you can, working from a warmer country is like being on vacation. Once you’ve cracked open your laptop on a beach, you know you’re living the good life 🙂

Thought of the day: “Work to live, not live to work”.
