Just over a month ago, I made the prediction that Marc Benioff will rename Salesforce (the product) to Agentforce.
A few days ago, it was obvious he’s clearly thinking about it. But not just the product. He’s entertaining the idea of renaming the entire company.
The author of the related article makes some parallels between this and how companies once added the word “blockchain” into their name. Did you know the “Long Island Iced Tea Corporation” was once called the “Long Blockchain Corporation”?
I also remember when 3D printing started, and all of a sudden everything had the word “3D” in it. Heck, there was a 3D toothpaste. Like guys, relax a little.
So perhaps Salesforce will become Agentforce. It’ll definitely be easier to say “Agentforce Sales” instead of “Salesforce’s Agentforce Sales” (try saying that 3 times fast).
Personally, I don’t see what’s wrong with the word “cloud”. Just because it’s not as hip doesn’t mean we should discard it.
I also feel that when words change so quickly and easily, it becomes harder to rally behind the movement. What do you think?
