After years of experience working on Salesforce projects, I’ve come to realize that one of the most important factors for a successful project has nothing to do about technology.
As an architect or consultant, this may seem counterintuitive. But upon further examination, this fact is rather easy to accept.
Generally, technology finds its way. The solution is there. Just like Michelangelo crafting David from marble, you just need to remove the parts that aren’t part of the solution.
Sure, some projects aren’t well built, and others have a moderate amount of technical debt. But generally things end up working anyway.
So when people ask me what’s my biggest fear with any project, I usually mention adoption.
The takeaway
You can build the best oasis in the desert or the best project on the planet. But if people don’t come to drink, or use the tech, it’s effectively useless.
