Today was the in-person event I co-hosted with Salesforce.
The goal was to show nonprofits how to use Slack as a sidekick that helps them manage and interact with their contacts, all without leaving Slack.
Of course, these were specific use cases for nonprofits, but the functionality and UI can be used by any organization.
In some ways, Slack can effectively replace Salesforce as your primary UI. You can
- View, credit and edit your Salesforce data
- Run Salesforce screen and auto-triggered flows
- Run Slack workflows, which can leverage functionality from many 3rd party apps
- Use it as an organizational workspace
Using Slack as a virtual workspace means you can replace email with Slack messages. Conversations in Slack channels can be contextual to a record, which means it can completely replace Chatter.
And unlike things getting lost in emails, which mix Salesforce and non-Salesforce conversations, you can search Slack for anything.
The takeaway
I’ve been a “light” Slack user for several years, and mostly use it for messages. Knowing that I know now, I plan to use it as my central communication hub.
I plan to soon host a webinar about Slack+Salesforce, so you can learn too.
