Sometimes it feels like life gets weirder every year. And I don’t believe this trend will stop, or even slow down.

During my recent vacation, I’ve picked up a new daily practice. I’ve started to journal at least one positive experience every day.

For example:

  • Jul 17: A young married couple hugging at the airport, as though they hadn’t seen each other in ages.
  • Jul 18: A young boy (perhaps 3-4) dancing freely at an African festival
  • Jul 22: Two kids chasing birds in a park

These are brief moments in time that brought a smile to my face. In the case of Jul 17, I actually started to tear up.

The benefit of this practice is that now I actively look for these positive experiences. And this makes me a happier person.

The takeaway
Cherish the small, positive moments in life.
