Years ago, I read the book The 4 Hour Workweek by Tm Timothy Ferriss. The high-level goals are to optimize your lifestyle, outsource what can be done by someone else, and be more intentional with your time.
At the time, I saw it as an unreachable goal: something to strive towards, but never actually achieve. But during the last couple of summer months, it was interesting to notice how little I worked.
Since late June, it’s been about 4-6 hours of client meetings, a few more for client tasks, and some hours for feature improvements on my app.
I wasn’t motivated to work very hard because I wanted to enjoy the warm summer. And the most interesting part of all of this was that my revenue didn’t decrease.
In the last several years, I’ve built a solo business that allows me to:
- Work anywhere in the world
- Work at my leisure
- Maintain a high-level of steady income
This isn’t me gloating. I don’t have any special magical powers that you don’t have.
The takeaway
If I can accomplish the lifestyle I wanted, so can you.
