Here are the upcoming login changes, coming to a Salesforce instance near you.
Starting June 2026, you’ll only need to enter your username. If you have a passkey enabled, then you’ll confirm the login from there. If you don’t, you’ll need to enter your password. This approach makes the passkey login process significantly faster.
Starting Aug 2026, the default choice for logging into test.salesforce.com or login.salesforce.com, will be your email address instead of your username.
This means:
- You type your email address only
- Salesforce sends you an email
- You click a link and chose which account to login into
This approach makes the login process significantly slower.
Things to keep in mind:
- You’ll still be able to use your username, if you so choose
- This doesn’t apply if you log in from your personalzed domain, e.g. dryad.my.salesforce.com
- https://login.salesforce.com/?login=1 always allows you to login with a username
- This only impacts UI logins, not SSO
