Northeast Dreamin (NED) was last week in Concord, NH. It was great to meet up with some readers in real life, and to catch up with old Salesforce colleagues.

From my perspective, there were two main takeaways from the conference.

1. AI is powerful. And with great power, comes great responsibility.
AI can create fields, flows, apex classes, and LWCs in seconds. That’s awesome and helpful, but it doesn’t handle governance, guidance, or UX very well.

A human still needs to be the deciding factor and to be accountable for what the AI generates. Many AI projects fail because people assume the AI can handle everything.

2. Since AI can do so much, what’s left for us?

  • If you were just an order taker, you SHOULD be concerned. AI can do your job faster and more accurately than you can.
  • Empathy, judgement, and trust are still vital human skills.
  • Since most people’s identities are defined by what they do, there’s an existential concern. Realize you are more than just your job title.

The takeaway
I’ve recently spoken about these two takeaways, so it was good to see I’m not the only one pondering them.
