With every significant technological advance, people are impacted. From farm automation to automated telephone switching to ATMs to using robots on assembly lines.

With each advance, humans had to redefine their responsibilities. And as my friend said, “You can open a door by yourself, but doormen still exist”.

Today, AI can manage most implementations. But being a “good enough” Salesforce consultant is more than just implementation.

So here are 5 human-first skills that only you can bring to the table:

  1. Judgment/Decision making: to know when something should be done
  2. Accountability: to take responsibility for outcomes
  3. Governance: to build methods for knowing how to use tools and processes
  4. Empathy: to understand the humans in the room
  5. Trust: to be able to rely on each other

As long as you have these skills, you will be in demand.

The “how” you work will change, and you will need to adapt. To paraphrase Darwin, survival goes to organisms best fitted to their conditions.

The takeaway
Now is the time to cultivate and lean into these human-first skills.
