The big news from last week is from Marc Benioff. He claims Salesforce is now headless.

“Headless” means the back-end logic is completely separate from the front-end UI. This effectively means you can replace the UI with something other than Salesforce’s.

This is a technical step to allow external systems to easily connect to Salesforce’s back-end logic (users, data, validations, workflows, etc.)

Keep in mind that you can already connect to Salesforce directly, so that’s not really new. What is new is the underlying theme of, “Salesforce’s UI can be replaced or even removed entirely”. That replacement might something Salesforce builds, or something you build.

Imagine creating a UI that is personalized for your organization’s use cases. Now that would be interesting!

The takeaway
Here’s an AI prompt you’ll be able to execute soon: “Rebuild Salesforce’s UI for my small nonprofit that focuses on fundraising”. The result could be pure substance and no filler.”
