A few years ago, someone posted the following on LinkedIn, “I proposed to my girlfriend this weekend. Here’s what it taught me about B2B sales.”
He then listed a bunch of parallels between these two events. As you can imagine, the post was heavily mocked on social media.
In the same spirit, my current trip to Italy reminded me about some consulting principles.
Upon arriving in Milan on Saturday, I quickly realized a couple of things:
- I’m not a fan of the city. It’s too pretentious and fashion-focused for my tastes
- One of my travel companions and I don’t mesh well
So I jumped on a plane and I’m now in Warsaw, Poland.
Here’s what this situation taught me about Salesforce consulting
- Even if you came up with a brilliant plan, things can change. Be ready to pivot, as needed.
- Have a criteria for knowing when to pivot. For example, if these three things fail, it’s time to consider plan B.
- Have a plan B, even if it’s just a rough plan. This helps avoid a single point of failure.
The takeaway
